My name is Gerold Lee Gorman and hopefully, I will be
your next representative in Nevada’s Congressional District 2. Education-wise, I have a degree in
Engineering Physics from U.C. Berkeley, and although I lived in California most
of my life, I moved to Reno in 2013.
Before that, I had several occupations - including about ten years in
broadcasting, and a few more doing software development at companies like
Microsoft, as well as for the Bluelight.com division of K-Mart. I have experience teaching in California's
public schools and have pursued other entrepreneurial ventures, such as
"back in the day" when I "moonlighted" as a club DJ and was
quite possibly one of the best “battle mixers” on the West Coast.
I was a Bernie Sanders delegate, in 2016 and 2020, and
participated in many local events such as phone banking, caucus, etc., while being
actively involved with Washoe County Democrats.
Since I attended a Christian High School, I am sympathetic
to properly developed proposals that improve parent involvement in their
children’s education, such as charter schools or vouchers where appropriate.
The system is broken.
There is much that needs to be discussed, however, to develop policies regarding
corruption, which are not only legally and epistemologically, but also
theologically sound, even though it should be possible to deduce such theories
regarding corruption and failure – purely based on axiomatics, that is
according to our rhetoric, and without any intrinsic need to proceed as according
to some prescribed moral framework that has otherwise been handed down based
upon tradition and authority.
We know that a trickle-down economy doesn’t work. The middle class is disappearing, and social
inequities are increasing. So, we must
look beyond traditional partisan views regarding economics. If we could somehow remove fraud and
exploitation from “the American business model” and focus on strategies that
have strong ethics in their core values, and if we contemplate large scale
competitive free markets, then it should follow that, in further consequence of
laws of supply and demand, etc., that it must also follow that as economic
efficiencies increase; it ought to become more difficult to achieve large gains
through arbitrage. This should imply that because of efficient markets,
societies will, in general, need to move toward a more transparent value-added
perception concerning the prerequisites for sustainable economic growth.
As time goes by, I will be updating this site with a much more detailed look at some of the issues that are facing Nevadans, as well as the United States, and of course the rest of the world.
